MARY KATHERINE PRIDDY, of North Little Rock, passed away Aug. 7, 2015. Known by special people as KK, she is now walking, breathing freely, and celebrating in Heaven. Praise God for His goodness. Born in Conway, Ark., Mary K grew up in Dumas. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lizzy Kate Priddy. Her memory and legacy is being carried on by her sister and best friend, Ann Priddy; her second family: stepmother, Sybil Priddy; stepsister, Sunni Throgmorton and her husband, Tom and precious niece, Sommer Throgmorton; her special sister, Karen Cook and special niece and nephews: Nathan and Jared Cook, Josiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah, and Jenna Johnson. Mary K always wanted to be a nurse and graduated from the U of A with a nursing degree in 1969. After working in hospitals in Dumas and Pine Bluff, she came to Little Rock and worked at UAMS for 25 years. For most of her years there, she was the chief nurse operating officer. While there, she received her master's degree from the University of Minnesota in 1981. She retired from UAMS in 1999 and, as she said, flunked retirement and started teaching nursing at UCA. She taught there for 13 years. Mary K also did legal nurse consulting and loved the challenge of going against the lawyers. Mary K. loved to travel, cheer for the Cardinals and Razorbacks, and play with her Welch Corgies. She also enjoyed doing counted cross stitch and made many pictures that her home is decorated with seasonally. Visitation will be at Fellowship Bible Church on Kirk Road in Little Rock at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, followed by a celebration service at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, 18122 MacArthur Dr., North Little Rock, AR 72118 or a charity of your choice.
