Mildred Griffin Gandy

Mildred Griffin Gandy, 84, of White Hall, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015, after a short illness, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Gandy was born February 27, 1931, in Pine Bluff, to the late C. G. and Mildred Beatrice Bell Griffin. She was reared and received her education in Pine Bluff, where she graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1948. She was a member of the Watson Chapel High School Alumni Association. She attended Hardin Academy, Arkansas State Teacher's College (now the University of Arkansas at Conway), and Arkansas A & M. (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello). Mrs. Gandy was a homemaker most of her life, but did work for the Pine Bluff Commercial as a secretary in the circulation department from 1950 until 1956. Mildred Griffin married William "Bill" Gandy, the love of her life, on July 15, 1950, at her parents' home in Watson Chapel. She was a member of Hazel Street Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Keith) Conner of White Hall; two grandchildren, William Keith Conner and Kristen Anne Conner, both of White Hall; a sister, Anne (Pat) Patterson of Bartlett, Tennessee; two nephews, Patrick (Amy) Patterson of Bartlett, Tennessee, and David (Sarah) Warriner of Pine Bluff; a niece, Cherie Patterson of Bartlett, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Peggy Gandy of White Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, William "Bill" Gandy; and two sisters, Lillian Griffin Johnson and Clara Griffin Warriner. The family will receive friends Friday, August 14, 2015, 5 to 7 p.m., at Robinson's. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 15, 2015, 10 a.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson with Reverends Paul Williams and Jim Monroe officiating.
