Miriam Parke Balding

Miriam Parke Balding died in her apartment in Houston, Texas on Thursday, July 30, 2015. She was 87 years old. She was born in Little Rock, Ark. to Frank Herbert Parke and Emily Crawford Parke. Miriam graduated with a chemistry degree from Mills College in Oakland, Calif. and later received a Masters in Public Health at the University of North Carolina–Chapel Hill. In 1962 she married Marvin Parish Balding in Little Rock, Ark. The couple later moved to Annandale, Va., where they resided for 40 years. Miriam was very active at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Falls Church, Va. She loved to read, garden, and play cards. In 2009 she moved to Houston to be closer to family. Miriam is predeceased by her husband, Marvin Balding, who died in 1991. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Parry and Michelle Balding of Richmond, Va., and their daughters Chelsea, Brittany and Mackenzie Neal. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Mark Biegler of Houston, Texas, and their two children, Joshua and Emily.
