Ollie Nora Perry

Ollie Nora Perry, age 88, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Westerville, Ohio. She was born September 19, 1926 in Prattsville, Arkansas, to William Franklin and Verla Lee Walker. Ollie was an example of kindness and love to all who knew her, with creativity reflected in her hobbies of crocheting, embroidery and needlework. Her faith in and dependence on God characterized much of her life. She was a Sunday School teacher as well as a founding member of Miami Valley Baptist Church for the Deaf and Hearing in Dayton, Ohio. Ollie attended the Arkansas School for the Deaf, where she graduated as Salutatorian with the class of 1946. After retiring from work at Tuf-Nut and Timex of Little Rock, she returned to work at the school as a substitute teacher. She was an active member and held many offices in the Little Rock Association of the Deaf, Arkansas Association of the Deaf, the National Association of the Deaf, the National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, as well as the Ohio Association of the Deaf where she received the "Outstanding Service Award" in 1996. Ollie was also a teacher of American Sign Language for Super Speech and the Department of Social and Rehabilitative Services. Ollie is preceded in death by her parents along with her husband, Harvey Williams; son, Boley Seaborn; grandson, Julian; and her later husband, Jesse Perry. She is also preceded by her sisters, Joyce Patterson and Ruby Caldwell, as well as her brother, Robert Walker. Ollie is survived by her daughter, Caddy Pope (Randy) of Tipp City, Ohio; grandchildren, Christopher Pope of Clarksville, Ind., Jennifer Freeman (Justin) of Mount Airy, N.C., and Melody Pope of Tipp City, Ohio; and great-granddaughter, Addison Freeman. She is also survived by sisters, Oweeta McNeill of Clearwater, Kan. and Loyce Lowery of Benton, Ark. Funeral services are 1 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2015 at Buie Funeral Home in Sheridan with Brother Bob Slagley officiating. Burial will follow at Philadelphia Cemetery in Prattsville.
