EDITH MAGEE SCHROEDER, 99, entered into rest on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Schroeder is survived by her children, James T. Schroeder (Sharon) of Evans, Ga. and Joe Robert Schroeder (Carol) of Fredericksburg, Va.; and her grandchildren: James Robert Schroeder (Marsha Snyder Schroeder), Catherine Marie Schroeder, Riley Frederick Schroeder, and Chelsea Noelle Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Arthur Magee and Jewel Elm Magee; her husband, Fred Schroeder; and her sisters, Dorothy Storey (Merritt) and Hattie Young (William). Mrs. Schroeder was a lifetime resident of Arkansas, born in Shiloh, Ark. (near Heber Springs). She graduated from high school in Willisville, Ark. During WWII, she worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers in Newport, Ark. on airfield construction. After the war, she moved to Little Rock and married Fred Schroeder. In 1959, she began working for the Pulaski County Special School District as a secretary at David O. Dodd Elementary and later as the office assistant at Mabelvale Junior High School. Upon her retirement in 1983, she was awarded a special service plaque for 24 years of service. The school annual was dedicated in her honor. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teachers Association. She was awarded "The Norma" trophy as a Woman of Stamina from the John Barrow Neighborhood Community Association in 2006. She was a charter member of the Shepherd's Center of SWLR and received her 25 year pin in 2010. Mrs. Schroeder was a member of the Western Hills United Methodist Church for over 60 years. From age 92, she has supported and participated in the Under the Bridge Ministry. She was the light of her church and was awarded its Spirit Award. In 1990, she received the Special Mission Recognition Pin. Pallbearers will be Roger Porter, James Robert Schroeder, David F. Bridges, Tony Bohanon, Lloyd Moore, William M. Bridges, and Roosevelt Lewis. The family will meet with friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral home, 5800 W. 12th Street in Little Rock. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Western Hills United Methodist Church by Rev. Sylvia Nosic, 4601 Western Hills Avenue in Little Rock.
