ROBERT "BOB" BRYANT JONES of Little Rock, Ark. passed away Aug. 20, 2015 just three days short of his 90th birthday. Born in Swifton, Ark. on Aug. 23, 1925 and a graduate of Little Rock Senior High, Bob enlisted with the Army Air Corps during World War II serving in Europe as a navigator on the B-17, "Miss-Leading." After the war, Bob came home to Little Rock and began a career as an accountant. A 50 year member of the Optimist Club of Greater Little Rock, Bob sold Christmas Trees to most of Little Rock from the Optimist Tree lot at Ray Winder Field. In addition, Bob also spent his summers at his beloved Ray Winder Field as a Travs season ticket holder for more than 30 years. He delighted in taking family and friends with him to the games and consuming every treat available from the concession stand. The only time he ever missed more than a couple of games was to take his family on the yearly Jones Family Summer Vacation, which he usually began planning in January and was a source of many wonderful memories for the entire family. He also coached the Little League Baseball Team, "The Guardian Company" for many years and was the first man elected as President of the Woodruff PTA. The family would like to thank Bob's caregivers at Hospice Home Care and Shundreal Tolefree, who cared for him as if he was her own father. He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Jones, mother, Gladys Jones and his sister Maurine Jones Bass. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Lavonne Jones; one brother, Ken Jones (Sue) of Ferndale; three daughters, Jeanie Maness (Cliff) of Maumelle, Teresa Cook (Pete) of Maumelle and Cathy Finefield (Philip Osborne) of North Little Rock; three granddaughters, Sarah Mordecai (Paul) of Little Rock, Katie Finefield (Josh Pangle) of Roland and Samantha Nation (Jason) of Jacksonville and his great-granddaughter, Charlotte Nation. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 in the chapel of Ruebel Funeral Home with Rev. Anne Holcomb officiating. A visitation will begin one hour prior to services. Graveside services will be at Arkansas State Veteran's Cemetery on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2015 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Optimist Club of Greater Little Rock, 6323 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, Ark. 72207. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home. www.ruebelfuneralhome.com.
