Juanita "Nita" (nee Moore) Mastromatteo Bateman, 89, a long-time resident of Bradenton, Fla., passed away August 14, 2015 at Blake Medical Center in Bradenton, Fla. Nita was predeceased by her first husband, Vito "Tony" Mastromatteo, and second husband, John "Jack" Bateman, as well as her son, Alan Mastromatteo. Born in Clinton, Arkansas on June 22, 1926, Nita graduated High School and later married Tony. They moved to Springfield, MA where they had two sons, Alan and Daniel Mastromatteo. Nita and her husband Tony became successful business owners of Shaker Bowl in East Longmeadow, Mass. and both retired in their early 50's and settled down in Bradenton, Fla. Nita was a very fun-loving, active woman who enjoyed golfing, bowling, walking, movies, playing cards and spending time with friends. Nita was survived by her son Daniel, though he has since passed away. Nita is also survived by her three granddaughters, Denise Henderlite, Lori Ross and Lynn Houle, and several great-grandchildren, all of whom loved her very much and visited often. A Memorial Service will be held at Curran Jones Funeral Home, 109 Main Street, West Springfield, MA 01089 on Saturday, August 29th at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1616 59th St., Bradenton, Fla. 34209 or Tidewell Hospice, 3355 26th St. West, Bradenton, Fla. 34205.
