Lessie A. Hutchens, 100, went to be with the Lord August 22, 2015. She was born on June 26, 1915 to Joseph Park and Annie Lee Atkinson in Weogufka, Alabama. Lessie was a member of Unity Methodist Church in Weogufka, Alabama. She was possibly the last of 29 students that graduated from high school in Weogufka. Lessie attended Florence State Teachers College in Florence, Alabama for one year where she met and married the love of her life, Robert Oris Hutchens. Lessie spent her life taking care of her home and her children. She enjoyed many hobbies, like making jewelry and Christmas ornaments out of beads, sewing, crocheting, flower gardening and vegetable gardening. Lessie spent much time canning and freezing vegetables, her husband Oris planted. She loved volunteering at Southwest Hospital in Little Rock for many years. Lessie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, one son; Park Robert Hutchens, two granddaughters; Shelia Renee Carlisle Williams and Kelly Marie Carlisle Speer, two brothers and five sisters and her son-in-law; Billy Patrick. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Patrick and three great grandchildren; Wesley Williams, Jessie Williams and Christopher Speer. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas. Reverend Robert Marble will officiate.
