Johnnie Carlene Atwood

After putting up a valiant fight, Johnnie Carlene Atwood, of Benton, crossed over at the age 77 with loved ones at her side on Monday, August 24, 2015. She loved her family unconditionally and cherished her husband, Wesley and their relationship beyond measure. A voracious reader, creative artist and lover of music. Johnnie saw the beauty in life and wanted nothing less for those surrounding her. She always looked to the good in others and lived as an example for the rest of us to follow. Johnnie selflessly worked her entire life, at times holding multiple jobs at once to provide a better life for her children. Her work resume included many years with AMF Cycle and Pirelli Tire of Little Rock and CoorsTek of Benton. She always said how much she enjoyed the people with whom she worked. Johnnie is proceeded in death by her parents, Carl and Ardeth Ridling and her sister, Karla (Owen) Chambers. She provides the legacy of large family who will always remember and love her greatly: her devoted husband and best friend, Wesley Atwood; children, Terry Landon (Gina), Mark Landon (Sharon), Chris Landon (Carla), Dana Atwood-Anderson and Douglas Atwood; siblings, Helen Free, Dalton "Sonny" Ridling and Jim Ridling; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jared Landon, Christopher Landon, Cory Mitchell, Aaron Anderson, Taylor Harris, Josh Owen and Zach Owen. Visitation will be 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 26 at Ashby Funeral Home. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ivy Chapel Christian Church Cemetery located at 706 Ivy Chapel Road, Little Rock, Ark. Rev. Reggie Nalls will be officiating.
