DONNA MARIE BURROUGHS SMITH went home on Aug. 22, 2015 in Little Rock, Ark. Donna was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, moving to Little Rock in 2014. Graduating from Istrouma High School in 1956, Donna married Billy Joe Smith on Jan. 24, 1958. Donnie Marie served many years at Weller Avenue Baptist Church in Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and choir. She was active in her children's schools, regularly donated blood, and ran a successful architectural firm. Donna was vivacious, a talker, and never met a stranger. D Marie was an ardent LSU/NFL fan and came to be a Razorback fan too! Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Smith, mother, Mary Lee Burroughs and sister, JoAnn Cotton. She is survived by her children, Joyce Alsup of Independence, Miss., Larry Smith (Donna) of Baton Rouge, La. and Laura Smith-Olinde (Frank) of Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren, Corey Sibley, Eric Sibley, Liesl Vitter (Drew), Destiny McMillen (Joseph) and Dustin Robertson (Zane); and three great-granddaughters, Madison, Hannah and Kenslee McMillen. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IRIS Domestic Violence Center of Baton Rouge http://www.stopdv.org/index.php/donate/. A graveside service will be held at Resthaven Gardens of Memory in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015 at 10 a.m. Please join us for a celebration of Donna's life at 11:30 a.m., LSU Botanic Garden (Rural Life Museum, Essen).
