Doris Gates McKnight

Doris Gates McKnight, age 82 of Searcy, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 in Little Rock. Her journey began on Oct. 14, 1932 in Memphis, Tenn. She graduated in 1950, attended Memphis State University and the University of Arkansas. She met Edward Dennis McKnight Jr. in 1954. They married in 1955. This union lasted 49 years. They had three sons, Ed (Jean), Phillip (Angela), and Gates (Janet). They were blessed with two granddaughters, Katharine (Joel) and Anna Elizabeth (Joseph). She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Harlan Gates; a brother, Dr. Harlan Gates II; and nephew, Eric Lee. Doris and Dennis were both members of First United Methodist Church, Searcy, Ark. A Memorial service was conducted on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church of Searcy.
