Richard Michael Lewis

RICHARD MICHAEL LEWIS of Little Rock, aged 60, passed away August 25 at the VA Hospital. He was born Dec. 19, 1954, the beloved third child of Robert and Dorothy Case Lewis in Brookhaven, Miss., where his parents had met and married. A graduate of McClellan High School, Richard had an interesting and independent spirit. His desire to serve along with his spirit of adventure led him to volunteer and serve a tour in the United States Coast Guard. Richard was a creative person who loved various forms of art, especially sculpting his own designs and working on architectural plans. Richard was curious about the world around him, including public service and politics, which he followed closely. His interest in the environment led to his love of hiking. He developed a particular love of Scotland with its history, customs, people, land, and architecture, and thoroughly enjoyed a recent trip there. On a scale he himself would have described as simple and modest, he followed his own interests and lived his life accordingly. Predeceased by his parents, Richard is survived by his sister Kathy Lewis Stevens and husband Steve of Little Rock, and his brother Ron Lewis, of Plainview, Texas. Richard delighted in giving gifts to his cherished nieces and nephews, Andrea Stevens Tappe and her husband Chad, Juliana Stevens Underwood and her husband Luke, all of Little Rock, Timothy Adam Lewis and his wife Aubrey, of Kennewick, Wash., and Christopher Michael Lewis of Odessa, Texas. Richard's family especially appreciates the lasting friendship and support of his boyhood friend, Bruce Glover. A private graveside service at Pinecrest Memorial Park is planned for Thursday, September 3. To sign the online guestbook, visit www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/chenal.
