E. Wayne "Nanny" Harrison, 89 of Benton, passed away Aug. 27, 2015. He was born Oct. 30, 1925 in Saline County to the late Ishmael and Jewell Ferguson Harrison. Wayne was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving during Iwo Jima and witnessed the raising of the United States Flag at Mt. Suribachi. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Benton and the Alumini Lodge #574 in Bryant. He was preceded in death by his parents, step dad, Rodney Doyle, wife, Dorothy Johnson Harrison, granddaughter, Mary Elizabeth Rodden, great-grandchildren, Faith Ann Harklau and Faith Goodnight. Wayne is survived by his wife, Charlotte Yvonne Harrison, daughters, Dureta (Jim) Staples, Waynell (Steve) Lewis, step daughters, Kathy (Eddie) Goodnight, Judy (Larry) Rodden, grandchildren, Ryan (Shelly) Lewis, Rita (Brad) DeGeus, Melissa (Brandon) Harklau, Daniel (Samantha) Hudson, Michael Hudson, Jerry (Kerry) Goodnight, James (Holly) Goodnight and Douglas(Jessica) Rodden, 16 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the grandsons. Graveside Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Monday with Bro. Matt Thornton officiating at Smith New Rosemont Cemetery in Benton.
