Ann Sharon Jameson Wilson
Ann Sharon Jameson Wilson, 69, of 140 Washington Rd., Rye, N.H. and Little Rock, Arkansas, died peacefully at home on November 27, 2015 after an eight month struggle with lung cancer. She was born October 19, 1946, the daughter of Ernest Woodrow and Lois Chambers Jameson.
She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Dr. Sloan Wilson; her son John Matsek III and his wife, Lindsey, and her pride and joy grandson, John Garot Matsek of Memphis, Tenn.; her brother, Alan Jameson and wife, Judy, of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; her stepmother, Doris Krieger of Malvern, Ark.; stepsons, Sloan Wilson Jr. and wife Lisa of New Haven, Conn. and Gregg Wilson and wife Lily of Austin, Texas; a stepdaughter, Callie Wilson of Everett, Wash.; and her former husband, John Matsek Jr. of Little Rock, Ark.
She attended Little Rock public schools, graduating from Hall High in 1964. She majored in mathematics at Little Rock University where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. Her first, and only, employment has been with the accounting firm of Ellis, Tucker and Aldridge where she designed computer programs for over 45 years.
Ann had many interests, including scuba diving, bicycling, camping and boating. She especially enjoyed travel and tennis. She and her husband made two round-the-world trips, visiting all the continents and most countries - often travelling with Alan and Judy (her brother and his wife). In Little Rock, she played tennis at their club, The Country Club of Little Rock, and in New Hampshire she played USTA team tennis at Seacoast Tennis Club. Her name is engraved on many trophies from the Annual Tennis Tournaments of the American Ophthalmological Society.
Aside from sports, she liked to garden, especially deadheading, and was a board member of the Rye Driftwood Garden Club. She shared her computer skills to help produce their annual handbook. Always willing to give her talents, she helped the Seacoast Emeritus Medical Society and the1963 UAMS 50th medical class reunion.
She enjoyed music and each summer regularly attended the Boston Symphony Orchestras concerts at Tanglewood. "Take It Easy" by her favorite group, the Eagles, in many ways exemplified her style.
Ann was a wonderful mother, a loving wife, helpmate and a loyal friend who always put others before herself. She had a beautiful smile accompanied by a certain understated elegance without any sense of pretention. Always positive, she was at spiritual peace with the world. Cool, calm and collected, an even keel in any storm, she approached her illness with the same rational resolve she always applied to her life. She had not smoked in 35 years.
The family wishes to thank all the caring healthcare givers, Portsmouth Regional Hospital, the Infusion Center, Amedisys, Beacon Hospice and Dr. Kent Westbrook of the Rockefeller Cancer Institute. We are especially grateful for the outpouring of love from her many tennis friends from Seacoast Tennis Club and the Davidson 8.
There will be a private family memorial. In the spring there will be two Celebrations of Ann's life: one in Little Rock and the other in Rye, N.H. Memorials are directed to an endowed scholarship, The Ann Jameson Wilson Math Scholarship, which has been created in her honor at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, 2801 S. University Ave., Little Rock, Ark. 72204.
