Elsie Lorane Meador

Photo of Elsie Lorane Meador
With family members at her side, Lorane Meador passed to her eternal reward of which she was assured. The last of her immediate family, the last parent from a close neighborhood formed of returning World War II veterans and their wives, and the last of a group of dedicated individuals who built Baring Cross Baptist Church by employing their own skills and generosity, Lorane represented the dedication and commitment of her generation. Born in Batesville, she was raised in the rural environment of the 1920's. Until moving to Little Rock at the start of the war, Lorane and her five brothers and sisters survived the Depression era and then witnessed the steady progress of our society. She moved to Little Rock during the war and fell in love and married in 1944. She and Raymond formed their family around their three children, Ray, Susan and Julie. Following Raymond's death in 1957, Lorane dedicated her life to her children, especially Julie. Susan and Ray repaid Mom's commitment, sacrifice, and faith by raising loving and dedicated families of their own based off of the Mom's example. Ray and his wife Martha now live in California. Susan and her husband Gary reside in Sherwood. Lorane's five grandchildren, Jeff and husband Brian, Stacey, Jason and wife Theresa, Ashley and husband Franklin, and Josh and wife Helen, blessed her with eight great-grandchildren, Colton, Dylann, Kyle, Mallory, Luca, Hayden, Russell, and Olivia. Mom always found ways to extend a helping hand to the unfortunate and that trait, while not hereditary, continues in her extended and grateful family. A service in her memory and honor will be begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday December 3, 2015 at the Roller-Owens Funeral in North Little Rock, Ark. 501-791-7400.
