Wendell Eugene Tull

Wendell Eugene Tull, 89, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away November 2, 2015. He was born January 10, 1926, in Benton to Arch Curtis and Elsie May Tull. Wendell grew up in Tull 6 miles south of Benton. He graduated in 1942 from Bauxite High School. He later went to college and seminary at Phillips University in Enid, Okla. to prepare for ministry. He completed seminary in 1949. Wendell met the love of his life, Nettie Lou Richesin of Harrison, Ark. while they both attended Phillips University. They were married 66 years. Wendell was a Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) minister for over 40 years. He pastored churches in Newkirk, Oklahoma City, and Tulsa, Okla.; Ft. Scott, Kan.; and Denver, Colo. He was the fourth in his family to be a minister. After retirement, Wendell and Lou moved to their home in Diamondhead near Hot Springs. They became members of First Christian Church of Hot Springs. Wendell was deeply involved with FCC as an elder, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and occasional preacher. He also served as interim pastor for 4 other Arkansas churches. Wendell enjoyed woodworking, including designing and building his own home. His sports devotion was golf, but he held in high regard the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Denver Broncos. Wendell is preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Rev. Curtis Goodwin Tull. Survivors include daughter, Deborah Baggett and husband Doug; son, Dr. James Anthony Tull and wife Judie; and son, Terrence Neal Tull and wife Merrily; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at First Christian Church, 1806 Central Ave. in Hot Springs.
