Betty McPhate Wallace

Our champion, hero and mom, Betty Wallace, passed through the Gates of Heaven to be with the Lord and the love of her life on Tuesday, December 2, 2015. She fought a fight like no other person could have. Her fighting spirit continues to be with us and will continue to inspire us throughout our lives. Born Frances Elizabeth McPhate, May 23, 1935, "Betty" was raised in McNair, Jefferson County, Mississippi. After high school and business college, she met the man who would become her husband of 54 years, our dad L.E. Wallace. Their partnership left this world a better place. She raised seven children of her own and countless others. Her passion was teaching us about life and how to love and respect others at all times. A sportsman at heart, she always taught us first and foremost to respect the game. She taught many young girls this sportsmanship while teaching them to throw and hit a softball. Greeting her in Heaven will be her parents Irby Elijah McPhate and Hazel Anding McPhate; her brothers Prentiss and Tim McPhate; and her love L.E. "E". Wallace. Survivors include her children, Prentiss Edward Wallace of Pine Bluff, Larry Eugene Wallace and wife Tempie of Eureka Springs, Sherry Elizabeth Wallace Francis and husband Jim and Terry Claude Wallace and wife Lana, all of Little Rock Irby Wade Wallace of Conway, Frances Diane Wallace Roberts and husband Dave of Maumelle, and Jones Darryl McPhate and wife Janet of Conway; her sister Eugenia McPhate Scott of Jackson, Mississippi; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves many of the youngsters that she taught to read and play ball. They will always remember what she taught: that you can do anything if you are willing. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 5, 2015, 11 a.m. at Fuller Hale-South Funeral Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until service time. Online condolences may be made at FullerFunerals.com.
