Colleen Combs Boland

Colleen Combs Boland was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on September 22, 1922. With her husband, Robert R. Boland, Sr., she raised four children in El Dorado. Colleen died peacefully at age 93 in her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 16, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband, her youngest child, Lee Alice Boland, her two sisters, Melba and Dorothy, and her parents, Baxter and Wyna Combs. She is survived by her brother, Pat, her three children, Robert Boland of Baton Rouge, Katherine Boland of Bethesda, Maryland, and Dan Boland of North Little Rock, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Colleen was a wonderful person, and a great mother and wife. She enjoyed playing both the violin and piano, playing bridge, and sewing for herself and her family. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook. She, her husband, her parents, and her children were long time active members of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado, and she and her husband were active with Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Colleen taught Algebra and Geometry in the El Dorado public schools, and her students often say that she was an excellent teacher. Graveside services will be held at Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado at 2 p.m. on Saturday December 19, 2015.  If you would like to make a donation in honor of Colleen, please do so to the charity of your choice.
