Frances Hall Pettigrew Fitzgerald, 93, of Clarendon died Monday, December 7, 2015 at home with her family and the support of Legacy Hospice. She was born November 8, 1922 in Poplar Grove, Arkansas to the late D.W. and Frankie Hall Pettigrew. She was a graduate of Clarendon High School and attended the University of Arkansas where she was a member of Chi Omega. During WWII she worked as a civilian in the Air Corp at Stuttgart, Arkansas. She later joined her father in the family business, Pettigrew Furniture Company, which was started in 1927 after the flood. In 1951, she married the late T.H. Pete Fitzgerald also of Clarendon and they enjoyed 42 wonderful years, working side by side in the family business. For 55 years she enjoyed her days spent at Pettigrew Furniture Company greeting customers, sales representatives and friends. In 1993 she was honored to receive the Arkansas Roadrunners Touch of Class Award for her courteous and loyal support of the Furniture Sales Representatives for over 45 years. She was a faithful member of Clarendon First United Methodist Church her entire life. She was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. "Pete" Fitzgerald, her parents, D.W. and Frankie Pettigrew, three brothers, D.W. Pettigrew Jr, Edwin Pettigrew and Don Pettigrew. She is survived by seven nieces and nephews who all belonged to her, Jennie (Rick) Pettigrew and Chip (Norma) Pettigrew both of Watkinsville, Ga., Jan Pettigrew, Ed Pettigrew Jr. and Donald (Barbara) Pettigrew Jr. of Clarendon, Nancy Moery of Carlisle and Amy (Richard) Harris of Stuttgart; three very special sisters-in-law, Jackie Pettigrew, Helene Pettigrew and Celeste Pettigrew; and a host of many great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will gather at Bob Neal & Sons Funeral home in Clarendon Thursday evening from 6 until 8 to visit with friends. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Clarendon First United Methodist Church with burial following at Shady Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 411, or Shady Grove Cemetery, P.O. Box 194, both in Clarendon, Arkansas 72029. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to her caregivers Debbie Brown, Mary Hampton, and Toya Harris; and her healthcare team Dr. Dennis Yelvington, Dr. Graham Reid, Toni Reid, RNP, Dr. Tena Murphy, Nancy Hornsby, APN, Dr. Ron Hardin, and Legacy Hospice for their kind and compassionate care which made her journey much easier and full of life and a healthy death.
