Calvin N. "Boots" Danner

Calvin N. "Boots" Danner, born November 26, 1925, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the DeWitt City Hospital. Boots, well-known around his beloved city of DeWitt, was a United States Army veteran who served in World War II and the Korean War. Upon returning to DeWitt from serving in El Paso, Texas during the Korean War, Boots said he would never leave DeWitt again, and other than a few day trips, stayed true to that statement. Boots, an automobile mechanic and owner of Boots Danner Repair Shop, served on the DeWitt Fire Department for 44 years, where he served as the city's fire chief for several years. Boots is survived by a son, Ronnie Danner (Carolyn) and a daughter, Paula Kinnard (David); three grandchildren: Dustin Danner (Heather), Craig O'Briant (Lynn), both of DeWitt, and Shauna O'Briant of Maumelle. He is also survived by great-grandchildren: Ethan and Lindsay Danner, Jaxson O'Briant, Jayda O'Briant and Whitley Flowers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty A. Danner; brother, Harvey D. Danner and sister, Una Cash. A graveside service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 10th at DeWitt Cemetery by Essex Funeral Home. essexfuneralhome.com.
