Robert Hansel Jones

Mr. Robert Hansel Jones, age 73, of Forrest City, Ark., died Saturday, December 12, in Memphis at the Baptist East Hospital. He was born November 23, 1942, in Forrest City, to Thomas Lester Jones and Minnie B. Miles Jones. Mr. Jones graduated from Forrest City High School and from Arkansas State University with a degree in business, and he joined his father in the family independent insurance agency, T. L. Jones & Son. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he was active in the bus ministry and taught Sunday School. He served on a variety of local boards and committees, and was active in the community that he called home for his entire life. Before his health failed, he was an avid golfer, duck hunter, and life long St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all, what he loved more than anything else was his family. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by his beloved wife, his two children, and their families. For the last 17 years, he has been affectionately known as Boo, and it was the proudest title he ever held. Mr. Jones married Paula Light on June 15, 1963, and they were married for 52 years. She was the absolute light of his life and had been since childhood. She survives him along with his daughter, Jennie Jones Gibson, and husband, Doug; his son, Rob Jones, and wife, Brooke; and six much-adored grandchildren; Paul Gibson, Eliza Gibson, Emma Gibson, Jack Jones, Ben Jones, and Trent Jones; four sisters, Eugenia White of Forrest City, Elsie Sams of Houston, Texas, Joan Gregory of Abilene, Texas, and Barbara Hodges of Jonesboro; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents as well as a brother, Charles Jones, and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Caroline Gibson. Services for Mr. Jones will be held at the First Baptist Church, 2 p.m., Thursday, with burial in Forrest Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, beginning 1 p.m., until the time of the service at the church. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. You may log on to stevensfuneralhome.net for the online registry. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 507 N. Rosser, Forrest City, Ark. 72335, or to the charity of your choice.
