Melba Dee Henning

Melba Dee Bodkin Henning, 80 of Benton, passed away December 13, 2015. She was born December 15, 1934 in Benton, Arkansas to Thomas W. And Eric A. Bodkin. Melba attended Benton School and graduated in 1952. She became a Christian at the age of 14 and was baptized in Spring Creek Baptist Church. Melba met and married the love of her life, Carl H. (Hoppy) Henning in 1952. This union produced three healthy children and one stillborn. Melba was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter, Vickie Kay Henning Wallace, her only brother, Tom Bodkin. Melba is survived by a son, Dr. Jeff Henning and wife, Eunah of Searcy, Arkansas, daughter, Carla Henning of Jacksonville, Ark, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a sister, Phyllis Woodell of Little Rock. Graveside services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bauxite Cemetery. No visitation is scheduled. Her granddaughters, Crystal LaGrone and Chiara Kester will sing "In The Garden" per their grandmothers request.
