Elizabeth Cissy Bailey, 82, of Batesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 at Wood-Lawn Heights Nursing Home. She was born in Pine Bluff, Ark. on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 1933 to Joe Ingram Coles Sr. and Maude (Farrell) Coles. Cissy was a beautiful Christian woman who truly lived out her faith. She loved her family, her church family and the Batesville community. This love was demonstrated by thousands of acts of kindness to those who were hurting or in need. Cissy was a tireless volunteer at First Baptist Church in Batesville, the Wood-Lawn Nursing Home, and elsewhere, resulting in statewide recognition for her volunteer efforts. Cissy always had a kind word and gave encouragement freely. She handled life's challenges with extraordinary grace that reflected her strong Christian faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family and friends cherish wonderful, fun memories with Cissy. Survivors include her son, Doyle Bailey of Sherwood, Ark.; her daughter, Ann Brothers and her husband, David, of Sugar Land, Texas; and four beautiful granddaughters: Sara Elizabeth Brothers, Rebecca Brothers Laschober, Brook Bailey, and Hannah Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer "H.D." Bailey; and a brother, Joe Ingram Coles Jr. A memorial service will be held on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Batesville. Burial is private. There will not be a visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 610 E.
