Ruby Allen

Ruby Allen, 90, of Pine Bluff, passed away Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015, at Baptist Health Medical Center. Mrs. Allen was born Dec. 11, 1925, in Pottsville, Ark. to the late William Harvey and Nettie Vincent Hubbell. She was reared and educated in Carden Bottom, where she graduated from Carden Bottom High School in 1945. She moved to Pine Bluff in 1959. She attended nursing school at Davis Hospital, where she received her Licensed Practical Nurse diploma. Ruby Hubbell married Billy Allen on Sept. 11, 1960, in Pine Bluff. Mrs. Allen started her nursing career at Davis Hospital and then to Jefferson Regional Medical Center, where she worked as an LPN for 34 years, retiring in 1994. She attended Broadmoor Missionary Baptist Church. She volunteered at JRMC for many years after her retirement. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, and crocheting. Her survivors include her husband of 55 years, Billy Allen; two sons, Darrel Allen of East End and David Allen of Springfield, Mo.; step-daughter, Janice Hurst of Perryville; seven grandchildren; Kaci, Hannah, Aaron, Janise, Lynn, Jamie, and James Darrin; brother, Bobby Hubbell of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Louise Young of Russellville; niece, Brenda Ault of White Hall; and many other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Arley, William, Jack, and James Hubbell; sister, Wanda Alexander; and a granddaughter, Devina. There will be a visitation Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, 12:30 p.m.–1:30 p.m., at Robinson's. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, 1:30 p.m., in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Sam Griffin officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
