Virginia Hasting Burkett

Virginia Hasting Burkett, 101, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday. She was born September 14, 1914 in Newport, daughter of James Isaac and Virgie Amelia Ruble Hasting. She married Earnest V. Burkett December 6, 1930 in Searcy. They ran two successful businesses together. They operated Burkett Fruit Company in Pine Bluff until 1957, then moved to Dallas and operated the Shamrock Motel there until 1961. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Howard Hasting, James Isaac Hasting, Jr. and Garland Hasting; and two sisters, Mary Alice Madden and Elizabeth Mayor.
