Lanny Alan Wortman, age 69, a resident of Morrilton, Ark. passed away at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR on Dec. 23, 2015, after a long, hard, courageous fight against lymphoma, keeping his sense of humor until the end. He was born on Sept. 30, 1946, in Racine, Wis. to Leroy Wortman and Joyce Soupene, both of whom preceded him in death. He had been a resident of Morrilton since 1969, and, in October, 2000, after 24 years of service, retired from the Morrilton Police Department. Lanny is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Lois Hubbard Wortman, whom he married on March 21, 1964; sons, Steve (Missy) Wortman of Little Rock and Doug Wortman of Maumelle, Ark.; he is also survived by his grandson, Justin Michael Wortman of Little Rock; granddaughters, Laura Beth Wortman of Little Rock, Reagan Nicole Wortman and Sydney Rae Wortman, both of Maumelle, Ark., all of whom he loved dearly. He also leaves his brother, Leslie Wortman of Humble, Texas and sister, Laquita Garoutte of LaVergne, Tenn. Lanny was truly an avid fan of the Arkansas Razobacks following them for many, many years. He was a member of Pottsville Freewill Baptist Church at Pottsville, Ark., where he served as a deacon and Sunday school superintendent. His funeral service, by Reverend Bud Walker, Reverend David Downum, and Reverend Clayton Nichols, will be held at the Harris Funeral Home Chapel at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015. Burial will be at Hamilton Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Danny Reed, Ronnie Brownlee, Ronal Brownlee, Jimmy Harris, Justin Wortman, Charlie Meyers. Honorary Pallbearers are Jordan Harris and Jessie Harris.
