Jay Oliver Miller, 98, of Huntsville, Arkansas, died January 30, 2015 at his home. He was born May 30, 1916 at South Haven, Kansas, the son of Carson and Grace Richmond Miller. Jay worked at Ardenvoir Mill and then the Mad River warehouse in Entiat, Washington. He and his wife then bought a twenty acre orchard where they grew apples, peaches, pears and cherries. Since 1991 he has lived in Huntsville, Arkansas. He was a member of Astounding Grace Church in Hindsville, Arkansas. He loved being outside working in his yard, always keeping it in mint condition. He could make anything he set his mind to. He was known as "Grandpa" to many, and loved spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Smith Miller whom he married on May 18, 1941, his parents, and his siblings, Truman, Lee, Harry, Vera and Verna. Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Cartmell of Huntsville, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Denny and Sandy Miller of Gilmer, Texas; one brother, Ralph Miller of South Haven, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Jeanette and Barry Cleaver, Yvonne and Steve Carlton, Darian Reynolds, Diane Reynolds and Angie Bettis, Floy Bob Cartmell, Carl and Sandy Cartmell, Suzy and Stuart Menn, Lori Miller, Michelle and Bryan McCaskill and Michael and Caitlin Miller; 12 great-grandchildren, Kaela and Doug Hawkins, Matt and Charae Cleaver, Jacob Carlton, Jennifer Cartmell, John Cartmell, Leah Cleaver, O'Shay Stroud, Cole Reynolds, Lindsey Reynolds, Carson and Taylor Menn and Collins, Kasen and Miller McCaskill; four great-great-grandchildren, Ty and Brody Hawkins, Sawyer Carlton, Mosston Cleaver and Kalie and Austin Cartmell. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 7, 2015 in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with The Reverend Butch Bolinger officiating. Arrangement are under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home www.brashearsfuneralhome.net of Huntsville, Arkansas. Interment services will be held in Entiat, Washington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Brashears. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Angel Wings at Anstaff Bank.
