Marguerite Pappas "Marggie" Fotioo, 88, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 6, 2015. She was born on March 3, 1926, in Hot Springs, the daughter of Peter and Eugenia Pappas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Angeline Pappas, her brother, Deno Pappas, and her brother in law, Sam Stathakis. Marggie attended Texas Women's University. A lifelong and dedicated member of the Greek Orthodox Church, she was a member of Daughters of Penelope and committed countless hours to Pappas Brother chili suppers, bake sales, and other fundraising projects. She was also very active in the Hot Springs community, and was involved with Junior Auxiliary and the Garland County Medical Auxiliary. The epitome of a true Southern Greek lady, she exuded grace and kindness and was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She loved to entertain and was a wonderful cook who enjoyed spending time in her kitchen, just like her mother. Most importantly, and for what she will be remembered and missed most, Marggie was a loving daughter, wife, mother, Yiayia, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend who had a heart of gold and brought joy to all who knew her. Marggie is survived by her husband of 64 years, George James Fotioo, her three children, Jim Fotioo and wife, Janet, Gina Messersmith and husband, Dan, and Pete Fotioo; her sister, Lu Stathakis; and her sister-in-law, Gwen Pappas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jamie Groat and husband, Neil, Nikki Daniel and husband, Ryan, Alyson Messersmith, and George Messersmith; and an extended family and many friends who love and will miss her deeply. Visitation will be at 5:30 p.m. followed by a 6 p.m Trisagion (Memorial Service) at Gross Funeral Home, Sunday, February 8th. Funeral services will be Monday, 11 a.m. at St. Lukes Episcopal Church. With Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Greek Orthodox Church c/o Pete Fotioo, 1135 Airport Road, Hot Springs, Arkansas 71913.
