James Alvin Vizzier, age 87, of Fayetteville passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015 in Springdale. He was born Feb.18, 1927 in Gillett, Ark. to James and Aveline Bergschneider Vizzier. He was a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Fayetteville and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a consulting planner for the University of Arkansas, Springdale and Fayetteville. He developed master street plans and land use plans for both cities between 1965 and 1990. He was also an avid private pilot and a member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club, proud of attending lunch but leaving before the program for nearly 30 years, when the organization retaliated by naming him program chair. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne Vizzier and his sister, Marguerite Biegers. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Vizzier of Saint Louis, Mo.; two brothers, Benton Vizzier of Fayetteville; Norval Vizzier of Minneapolis, Minn. and many nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11 at Saint Raphael's Catholic Church in Springdale. Burial of ashes will take place at another time at the Fayetteville National Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
