Geraldine Kissinger Branscum

Mrs. Geraldine Branscum, resident of Augusta, died Thursday, February 12, 2015. She was 86 years of age. Visitation was Friday from 6-8 p.m. February 13, 2015 with funeral service at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015at Augusta First Baptist Church with interment in Augusta Memorial Park by Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of McCrory. Mrs. Branscum was born in Weldon, Arkansas to Arthur Melvin and Lillian Margenra Gibson Kissinger and attended school in Wiville and Augusta. She was married on December 24, 1946 to James Coy Branscum who preceded her in death. Together she and her husband owned and operated East End Furniture in Augusta for many years. Geraldine was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Augusta where she kept the nursery. Not only did she and her husband work together, they were partners in gardening and canning the things they grew. He did the garden and she did the canning. Mrs. Branscum was a charter member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and loved taking walks and shopping. After a day of shopping, she enjoyed eating at Frankie's, her husband's favorite restaurant. Survivors include four sons; James Branscum of Howell, Coy Branscum and wife Dixie of Searcy, Bruce Branscum of Searcy and Bryan Branscum and wife, Sarah of Howell, three daughters: Brenda Key and husband Larry, Jeannie and husband Talmadge Whitehead and Gale Branscum all of Augusta, two brothers, Rudean Kissinger of Augusta and Abe Kissinger of Bald Knob, one sister, Ernestine Pomtree of Augusta, 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to the Augusta First Baptist Church, 310 Pearl, Augusta, Ark. 72006 or the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Jess Norman Post 166.
