Roydon Claire Urton

Roydon Claire Myers Urton, 94, of Carlisle ascended into heaven February 17, 2015. She was born September 19, 1920 to Roydon Clarence and Mabel Claire Myers. Roydon was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Jane Myers and her husband, Harry Urton. She is survived by her son, Cecil Myers Munnerlyn (Kathy) of Seagoville, Texas and her daughter, Jane Ann Harper of Carlisle and Santa Cruz, California; five grandchildren, Phillip Myers Munnerlyn (Brenda) of Scurry, Texas, Lori Denise Munnerlyn of Crandall, Texas, Julie Ann Varvil (Jason) of Quitman, Arkansas, Ryan Collins Harper (Kimberly) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jonathan David Harper ((Angie) of Bellevue, Washington; 11 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and four step-children. Roydon grew up in Carlisle and early on displayed musical talent. She and three others sang as the "Birdsong Songbirds" on the radio during high school. After living most of her adult life in North Little Rock and Detroit, Michigan, she returned to Carlisle in the 1980's and resided in the home where she was born. Roydon was a skilled seamstress, enjoying sewing, cross-stitch, and quilting. Other interests included Bible study, working all kinds of word puzzles, yard work and cooking. She was a devoted member of Carlisle First United Methodist Church where she led a Bible study and was a member of the intercessory prayer group. As a charter member (1946) of the GFWC Carlisle Progressive Club, she served in many elected positions including president twice, once in 1952 and again in 2000. The family would like to express deepest appreciation to Chambers Nursing and Rehab Center in Carlisle for their beyond-the-call-of-duty loving care. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
