James Parker Dickerson

Mr. James Parker Dickerson, 75, of Emmet, Ark., passed away Thursday, Feb. 19, 2015 in Prescott, Ark. after a courageous battle with cancer. James was born May 13, 1939 in Prescott, Ark. to Lawrence and Edith Collins Dickerson. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Gregory Parker Dickerson; brother, L C Dickerson; sister, Wanda Dickerson; brother in law, Ronnie Huckabee (his favorite fishing partner). James is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Huckabee Dickerson; one sister, Elizabeth Wicker of Prescott; nieces, nephews, many friends and Thomas, his feline companion. James was a Christian and had a personal relationship with God. He testified to anyone who would listen about all God had done for him. He was a retired self-employed businessman who designed and built portable rock crushers. From the age of 16 he had always been involved in construction. Few people knew it, but James could play any instrument by ear. He really enjoyed playing the guitar in church. In his younger days he was known for his beautiful black '57 Ford – "Little Darlin". He was passionate about drag racing. He built and drove a yellow roadster names "Yeller Heller". James also loved to fish, especially deep sea fishing on the Gulf with James Roy Brown, Klark Reynolds and Billy Butler. The family wishes to thank Serenity Hospice, Hillcrest Nursing Home and Dr. James Arrington who all took such great and loving care of James. A Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the Herndon-Pharr Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Vernon R.
