Carey Don "CD" McMahon, age 60, conceded his 5 year battle with Scleroderma February 22, 2015. He was born January 1, 1955 in Ft. Worth, Texas to Marion and Gay (deceased) McMahon. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Lynn; children, Cassidy and Carly; granddaughter, Trinity Pfeil; brother, Randy McMahon (Cindi); sisters, Kim Honeycutt (Michael) and Jennifer McDonald (Scott). He graduated from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, Texas in 1973. He joined the Navy after graduation. He attended the University of Texas in Arlington and UALR. Carey fell in love with Lynn in Dallas and followed her home to Arkansas. In 1981 they opened an antique mall and restaurant in a 100 year old warehouse that once sat where the Clinton Library is now located. After selling the business, he began a career in home improvement sales. He eventually became partners with Lynn at Plant Services. His friends and family knew he was dedicated to fun and the most competitive player in any sport or game you engaged him in. On the rare occasion you could beat him, there was an instant challenge to play again. His zeal for golf was unmatched by anything but his zest for life and love of his family. He never met a stranger or forgot a joke. He was a member of ASA Hunting Club in Perryville. Hunting was a passion even though he never found the elusive turkey. He was a natural musician teaching himself to play the clarinet, mandolin, guitar, and piano. The memory of his laughter and antics will always be with all of us that knew him. His family would like to thank the staff at Palliative Care at the John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital for their dedicated care in his final days. A memorial service will be held February 28th at 3 p.m. at the Cowboy Church in Conway located at 9 AR-36. A sharing of memories will be at his home on the river afterwards. Donations can be made to the Scleroderma Foundation at www.scleroderma.org in lieu of flowers. Arrangements entrusted to Cremations and Funeral Services of Arkansas. Guests may register at www.arcremation.com.
