Marjorie Ann Pitts (Margie) of Springfield, Missouri passed away on February 22, 2015 at the Riverview Manor Long-Term Care Facility in Ozark, Missouri after an extended illness. Margie was an extraordinary woman who filled the roles of daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother with unfailing love, resolve, dignity and courage. Margie unselfishly dedicated many years of her life to the loving care of her mother, her husband and her youngest son in their time of greatest need. Her courage and fortitude eased the passing of those she loved. Margie was born August 21, 1926 to Carmen and Gertrude Roughton, Bentonville, Arkansas. Margie was preceded in death by her father and mother her brother Harley F. Eichhorn, her sister Nadine Roughton, her son Michael D. Pitts and her husband the love of her life for 55 years William D. Pitts. Margie is survived by her son, Joseph D. Pitts and his wife Beverly of Ozark, Mo.; four grandchildren, Ian Pitts and his wife Chelsea of Lawrence, Kansas, Abby Powers and her husband Jack of Nixa, Mo., Matt Pitts and his wife Elin of Olmstead, Kentucky and Luke Pitts of Hope Mills, North Carolina; five great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Turner Powers, Linnae, Maikaela, and Sophia Pitts; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friends, Sandy Reese and Bobby Carrow both of Springfield. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 in Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held at Hazelwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to Ozarks Food Harvest, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave., Springfield, Mo. 65803.
