Charles Calvin Hall

Charles Calvin Hall, 81, of Stephens, Ark. died peacefully late Wednesday, February 25, after a brief illness, with his loving wife Martha at his side at the Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. A life-long resident of Stephens, he was born to the late Clarance and Euna Hall. In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his first wife of 46 years, Dixie, and their only child, Calvin Joe (C.J.) Hall, and by two sisters, Lena Autry and Minnie Tribble. Charles served in the Army (Korea) and was active in his church, Corinth Missionary Baptist, where he was a member from the cradle to the grave. He had a long career at Amfuel before retiring. Charles had a keen interest in and knowledge of oil and oil production, and was thrilled when he was able to visit Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. He owned and managed several secondary wells and used his mechanical know-how to design and build various pieces of equipment with which he worked his wells. Charles is survived by his wife, Martha Dodson Hall, who brought love, joy and companionship to his later years. He is also survived by two stepsons, Chris Smith (Traci) of Madison, Miss. and Gene Dodson (Carmon) of Williston, N.D.; two sisters Hazel Williams and Betty Pennington (Roy); one brother James Hall (Carlon), and several nieces and nephews; six step-grandchildren, Lacy Bradley (Thomas), Alexandria, Taylor, Trevor, and Trent Smith. Charles will be remembered as an intelligent, soft-spoken and gentle man whose smile was as sweet as his disposition. Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Sunday, March 1, at Lewis Chapel with Bro. Micah Carter officiating and assisted by Bro. Jay W. Helms. Burial will follow at the Stephens Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. of Magnolia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Lewis Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the C.J. Hall Memorial Scholarship Fund at Ouachita Baptist University, P.O. Box 3754, Arkadelphia, Ark. 71998 or to the Church of your choice. Pallbearers will be Jeff Farrar, Gary Farrar, Roger Wooten, Jay Westbrook, Alan Autrey, William Hall, Jerry Pennington, and Dolph Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Bailey, Don Brasher, Gene Hudman, Robert Price, Charles Williams, Joe Willett, and Ronny Hughey.
