Rita Mae Brown

Rita Mae Brown, 72, of Arkansas City, Ark. died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at Lake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center. Mrs. Brown was born in Dewitt, Ark. on Sept. 11, 1942 to the late C.W. and Helen Shields Capps. She retired from Arkansas City Public Schools as a cafeteria worker after many years. She was involved with the Desha County 4-H for many years. She was a member of McGehee Church of Christ. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Dale Brown; sisters, Pat Horton and Edna Klyder. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Donald Brown of Arkansas City, Ark.; sons, Donald Eugene Brown and wife, Christy of Diamond Head, Miss. and Roland Brown of Arkansas City, Ark.; brother, C.W. Capps of Sheridan, Ark.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee, Ark. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel, with Rev. Gene Gregory officiating. Cremation to follow services.
