Glenn E. Holicer, 84, of Benton, passed away Monday January 5, 2015. He was born in the Pointview community of Saline County to the late Alva and Chester Burks Holicer. Glenn was a member of the First Baptist Church in Benton. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Bart Hanley. Survivors, wife of 65 years, Dorcas Holicer, Benton; son, Brad Holicer, Benton; daughters, Pam Hanley, Benton; Terra Alsbrook, Benton; brother, Stanley Holicer, Benton; sister, Bonita Hoffman, Maumelle: seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren. He worked in the lumber industry for 48 years. Glenn was sales manager for Holicer-Jones Lumber Company and was later associated with Toler Lumber Company of Leola, AR until his retirement in 1995. He had a strong desire to be involved in his community. Glenn was a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Golden Kiwanis until his health began to decline. While a member of the Kiwanis Club, he worked with Mr. Jimmie Powers to organize Girls softball. He also served on the first "dam committee" and the Water User Board. He served on the Benton Public School Board under Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Cook. Of all of his community involvement, he was most proud of his 13 year tenure (1985-1998) on the Saline Memorial Hospital Board. The Board's eye for the future can be seen today in the new buildings and renovations. Pallbearers will be Glen Hoffman, Mathew Hoffman, Tim Holicer, Holden Hanley Chris Alsbrook and Don Bowers Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be his Sunday School Class. Church Services by Ashby Funeral Home will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Benton with Dr. Rick Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Ten Mile Cemetery.
