Mary Pat Wortham Parrish, age 84, of Crossett, Ark. passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015 at Ashley County Medical Center. She was born in Waldo, Ark., on February 21, 1930 to her parents, Marvin and Daisy Wortham. She was a graduate of Central High School in Little Rock, Ark. and University of Arkansas with a degree in Marketing. Mrs. Parrish was very active in Girl Scouts, the Band Booster Club, and the Presbyterian Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 25 years, a deacon and an elder. She was a volunteer for the Ashley County Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for over 30 years; spending most of her time in the gift shop. Mrs. Parrish was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 58 years, Elbert G. Parrish and a brother, Dr. Jim Wortham, M.D. Survivors include one son, James Gray Parrish of Palatka, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia Barnett (Keith) of Hamburg, Ark. and Betty Black (Michael) of Fountain Hill, Ark., one brother, Dr. Thomas H. Wortham, M.D.; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at the Presbyterian Church of Crossett. Interment will follow at Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, Ark. (www.jonesservice.com). Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.
