Richard Allen Sexton

Dr. Richard Allen "Rick" Sexton passed on December 30, 2014. He was born in Alpena, Michigan on May 3, 1968. He grew up in Jacksonville, Ark. and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1986. He attended the University of Kansas, where he received a B.A. in Russian Language and Literature, and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he earned his MD. After completing his residency in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Sexton served as a US Army flight surgeon in Europe. Dr. Sexton was on staff at Southern Hills hospital in Nashville, Tenn., until relocating to Austin, Texas in 2008. He co-founded the Austin Emergency Center and served as Medical Director at the South Lamar location. Dr. Sexton was an avid outdoorsman, an entrepreneur, and a generous spirit. He leaves behind many close friends, his parents, Bill Sexton of Jacksonville and Carol Sexton Meadows and Bill Meadows of Alabama, a brother, Paul Sexton of Belton, Texas, two sisters, Michelle Sexton Wilson of Jacksonville and Yvonne Sexton Rowland of Maumelle, four nephews, Brandon Wilson of Gravel Ridge and Paris, Julian, and Ethan Rowland of Maumelle, and one niece, Amanda Wilson of Little Rock. Rick will also be missed by his "best friend", his schnauzer Linus. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. January 10, 2015 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home.
