Bessie Swaim

Bessie Swaim, 94, of Hazen, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015. She was born March 21, 1920 to Wincy and Oscar Jones. When her husband, Bill was called to serve overseas in World War II, Bessie not only cared for their four children, but worked at the Defense Plant in Jacksonville. Bessie was a hard working mother of seven children. When she and her husband got their kids raised, they moved to town. She worked at the shoe factory in Stuttgart until it closed. Bessie enjoyed working in her yard and tending her flower garden. She also took up crafting and made many ornaments for her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill; daughters, Nell Berry and Ida Mae Linam; son, Clea Swaim and five brothers and four sisters. Left with loving memories are her daughter, Jessica Scarborough of Fort Worth, Texas; sons, Moe Swaim and wife, Audrey of Carlisle, Tommy Swaim and wife, Judy of Jacksonville, Larry Swaim and wife, Wanda of Des Arc; son-in-law, Robert Linam of Vilonia; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2015 at Westbrook Funeral Home in Hazen. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10 at the Center Point Missionary Baptist Church North of Hazen. Burial will be in the Center Point Cemetery.
