Ruth C. "Boo" McEntire, 84, of Pine Bluff, died Wednesday, January 7, 2015. She was born November 21, 1930 in Pine Bluff, daughter of June and Ruth Schnable Cameron. Professor M.D. McNeil started Ruth's singing career at the age of six. She had a remarkable voice and sang for many clubs, recitals and Saenger stage programs. During her late teens and early marriage to her loving husband, Ellis McEntire, Ruth had a weekly half hour radio program with station KOTN, where she sang ballads from operas by Frimel, Romberg and Herbert. Ruth also sang with the Arkansas State Symphony in Little Rock under Professor Joseph Blatt around 1948. She then joined various church choirs over the years until recently. Those church choirs included Trinity Episcopal Church, First Christian Church, Temple Anshe Emeth for 50 years with Virgil Howard and later White Hall United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, James Ellis McEntire; and infant daughter, Ruth Ellisa McEntire. Survivors include her son, Trent McEntire of Pine Bluff; sister, Helen Majewski of Pine Bluff; three grandchildren, Nolan Cameron McEntire of Bryant, Margaret Ellisabeth McEntire of Colorado and Daniel Trent McEntire of Maumelle; and one great-grandchild, James Alexander McEntire. Funeral services will be 10: a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2015 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Reverend Rob Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery.
