Betty Jane Lowther

Betty Jane Lowther age 94 of Little Rock, formerly of Arkadelphia, died January 9, 2015 in Little Rock. She was born August 22, 1920 in Fruitland, Idaho, the daughter of William Frank and Lois Ophelia Shamburger Lanfear. She was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, local hospital volunteer, member of the Extension Homemakers Club, and member and Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church of Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin L. Lowther Sr., her parents, a daughter, Kathleen Lowther Vaughn, two brothers, Forrest and Charles Lanfear and one sister, Lois Shirley. Survivors include one son, Edwin Lowther Jr. and his wife Susan, of Little Rock, two daughters, Carol Lowther Tipton and her husband Chuck of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Lois Lowther Sullivan and her husband David of Troy, Mo., one sister, Helen Zylman of Riverside, Calif., six grandchildren, Chris and Katina Sullivan, Lee, Virginia, and Blair Lowther, and Tyler Tipton. A private graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 12th in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Arkadelphia. There will be no visitation.
