Janice Alane Bowyer, 55, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 8, 2015 at her home in Sherwood, Ark. Mrs. Bowyer is survived by her husband of 38 years, Richard Bowyer. Mrs. Bowyer was born on September 22, 1959 in Georgetown, Ohio, the daughter of the late Paul Carpenter who passed-away in 1994 and Alice Fryman Carpenter who passed-away in 2010. During the course of her life, Mrs. Bowyer was a military spouse and resided in England, Italy, Germany, and visited several other European countries. When the family was transferred to the Little Rock AFB in 1992, she was hired as the Base Chapel Secretary, where she assisted the Chapel Staff in conducting all ecumenical chapel activities. In 1994, Mrs. Bowyer accepted employment at the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System VA Hospital as a ward clerk and progressed to the level of Clinical Applications Coordinator, where she was a recognized expert who trained physicians to use the Computerized Patient Record System. Following Richard's retirement from the United States Air Force in 2002, the family remained in Arkansas. Mrs. Bowyer accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1976 at the Wilmington Church of Christ. Throughout the course of her Christian walk, Mrs. Bowyer served as a faithful follower in several capacities to include Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and working in the nursery. Mrs. Bowyer was also an avid dog lover who served as a volunteer at the Sherwood Animal Shelter. She was preceded in death by family canines Rosie, Mikie, Lucky, Ollie, and Speck, and is survived by Eddie, Valerie, and Ralphie. In addition to Richard, Mrs. Bowyer is survived by two daughters, Jayne (Rick) Zampelli of Fort Bragg, N.C.; and Sherri Dobbins of North Little Rock, Ark. and her daughter, Mrs. Bowyer's granddaughter, Taylor Paul of Little Rock, Ark. Mrs. Bowyer is also survived by four brothers and one sister: James (Tammy) Carpenter of New Vienna, Ohio; Jackie (Roger) Spinks of Xenia, OH; Jerry (Beth) Carpenter of New Vienna, Ohio; Robert (Denise) Kanet of Marysville, Ohio; and Fred Kanet of Fayetteville, N.C. She is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces. The Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, January, 16th, 10 a.m. at the Friendship Baptist Church, Sherwood, Ark., the Rev. Roy Thompson officiating, followed by burial in the Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills Cemetery, Sherwood, Ark. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 15th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
