Ervin Otto Hoffmeister III

Ervin Otto Hoffmeister III, age 37, of Newport departed this life on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015 at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born on Sept. 15, 1977 in Newport. He attended Newport Public Schools and graduated from Trinity Christian School in 1996. Following graduation, he was employed by Wal-Mart in Newport. He was of the Baptist belief. Ervin loved his family and friends and his faithful cat, Blackie. He was an avid Star Trek fan and loved trains, computers and boats. He enjoyed collecting Star Trek memorabilia, computers, trains and classic movies. Ervin was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Columbus and Lula Tapp and paternal grandparents, Ervin and Edith Hoffmeister Sr. and Jerry Grojean. He is survived by his parents, Ervin Jr. and Peggy Tapp Hoffmeister of Newport and one sister, Susan Hoffmeister of Little Rock and his special cousins, Michael Burgin, Scott Bradley, Linda Johnson, Carla Miller, Jodi Blackford, Donna Toumajan, Doug Tapp, Richie Burgin, Jeff Tapp and Brandi Hagar. Visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 from 6-9 p.m. at Dillinger Funeral Home in Newport. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 12, 2015 at 2 p.m. in Dillinger Chapel, with Jeff Tapp and Bro. Don Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Watson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Scott Bradley, Doug Tapp, Michael Burgin, Richie Burgin, Leslie "Cat" Sullins, Colton Johnson, Zack Johnson, Dakota Weatherly, Ross Miller, Ely Miller, Jason Blackford, Dylan Bradley.
