Sister Katharine Wewers

Sister Katharine Wewer, age 87, died Jan. 12, 2015. The family of John and Katharine Telaar Wewer welcomed their first child, Katharine Adelheid Wewer into their family Oct. 24, 1927 in Morrison Bluff, Ark. She entered St. Scholastica Convent in 1945 and chose the name Sister Eugenia. Later she went back to her baptismal name of Katharine. Sister Katherine spent her life in the culinary arts at Subiaco Abbey, the Monastery kitchen and at St. Joseph Home for Children in North Little Rock. She has been a patient in the Infirmary since 1992. Sister Katharine is survived by one sister, Christine Wewer and her monastic family. Preceding her in death are her parents, and her brother, Casper. Vespers for the dead will be Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. in the Monastery Chapel. The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David McKillin as presider. Burial will be in the Monastery cemetery.
