Mitchel White

Mitchel White, 84, of Hamburg, died Monday. Mr. White was a native of Snyder and a resident of Hamburg all of his life. He graduated from Portland High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp. He worked for the Ashley-Chicot Electric Company as an apprentice lineman from 1949 until 1951. After serving in the military, he returned to work for Ashley-Chicot in 1954 and was promoted to foreman of the cooperative's Ashley area in November of 1963. He was named the General Manager of the system on June 20, 1966 and he retired from Ashley-Chicot Electric in 1990. He was a member of the Hamburg First United Methodist Church, a Mason and a member of the Hamburg Masonic Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, M.B. & Etta McGinnis White; two brothers, Steven & Perry White and four sisters, Ocie Gibbs, Jean McCoy, Cora White and Ruth Blemmel. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elise Morman White; a son, Mitchel White both of Hamburg; a daughter, Jean White of North Little Rock; a brother, Franklin White and wife, Barbara, of Maynard; four grandchildren, Heather Franks and husband, Casey, Michele McCutcheon and husband, Abdi Nasr, Sara McCutcheon and Sawyer White and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services are 11 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Cleveland Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday.
