Kenneth Ray Burwell

Rev. Kenneth Ray Burwell, 73, passed away on January 13, 2015 in Bentonville. He was born on April 26, 1941 to the late John A. and Mable (Manifold) Burwell, in Zincville, Oklahoma. He was the loving husband of the late Esther Burwell. Rev. Burwell was a 50 year ordained minister of the Pentecostal Church of God, and started preaching at the early age of 16. When he was not preaching, he loved spending time outdoors, fishing and hunting. He also drove a truck for Lee-way Motors, was a lifetime commissioned Deputy Sherriff, special investigator for the McDonald County Prosecutor, chaplain, car dealer, carpenter, teacher at the Washington Junior High in Bentonville, and was a bus driver for Bentonville Schools. He enjoyed children and spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Ray Burwell and wife, Michelle of Pea Ridge; daughters, Robin Saunders and husband, Steven of Newport, Arkansas, Linn Cass Burwell of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and foster daughter, Sanwanya Moser and husband, Phil of Bentonville; sisters, Violet Hart of Kansas City, Missouri, and Shirley Brashears of Picher, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Don Pendley of Miami, Oklahoma, brother-in-law, David St. John and wife, Nadine of Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Ardith Burki and husband, David of Oklahoma; 14 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. A visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2015 at the Gospel Lighthouse Church PCG in Springdale, from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the church.
