Syble King West

Syble King West, 85, of Carlisle, Arkansas, died Wednesday, January 14, 2015. She was born and raised in the Cabot area and resided in Austin all her married life, and later in the Carlisle Community. She always worked at Austin Fest, worked at the polls and helped to take food to the sick and to those who lost loved ones. She was a very active member of Austin Station Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Carlisle, and sang in the choirs. Although she grew older in years, she never grew old at heart, staying actively involved, especially with the youth of her church. She sold Vanda Beauty Counselor Products door-to-door in the Cabot area for 41 years. She loved her work and made many friends. Syble is survived by a daughter, Jan West (Jim) Anderson, and a son, Ricky West, all of Carlisle; grandson, Shey Reed of Carlisle; great-granddaughter, Faryn Reed of Conway; grandson, Patrick West; great-grandson, Wyatt West of Beebe; a sister, Lillie Gregory of Oklahoma; nieces and nephews; and her long-time best friend since third grade, Mary Brown Lyons of Nashville, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy (Pete) West and grandson, Army Spc. Bobby West, who was killed in Iraq in the line of duty May 30, 2006. Family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015, at Smith – Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe, with funeral to follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Old Austin Cemetery.
