Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Harmon Boyles, 78, of Bigelow (Wye Mountain) went to be with the Lord Jan. 16, 2015. She was born Sept. 14, 1936 on Wye Mountain, a daughter of Lampkin Ross Harmon and Martha Pudinas Harmon. She was the widow of Frank Wilbert Boyles and built and operated The Store on Wye Mountain. Liz was a standout athlete and academic in her early years and even played competitive softball well into her 60s. She continued to be a huge sports fan beyond her years of competition. Later in life, she treasured conversing with the community at The Store, gardening, sewing, painting china, reading and writing. She loved spending time with her family and friends and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren compete in sports. All will miss her jokes, wit and sympathy for all in need. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Myra Burgess; sister, Alice Marie Harmon and a brother. Survivors include her daughters, Martha Pope and Megan Wilson, both of Wye Mountain; one brother; six grandchildren, Brad Pope, Mike Burgess II, Randi Zakrezewski, Maggie Martin, Austin Wilson and Katie Wilson and six "terrific" great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Little Italy, with Father Richard Davis officiating. A graveside blessing will follow at St. Francis Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Pallbearers: Brad Pope, Mike Burgess II, Austin Wilson, Spencer Pope, Preston Martin, Josh Davidson and Luke Pope (honorary). Online guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net.
