Elba Joan Meek

Elba Joan Meek, 82 year old resident of Decatur, Arkansas, died January 18, 2015 at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation. Born September 6, 1932 in Decatur, she was the daughter of Orvil Patterson and Marie Dill Patterson. Joan was valedictorian of the 1950 Decatur High School Class. She married Bob Meek on June 16, 1950 in Decatur. Joan raised chickens and cows, and worked as part of the vaccinating crew at Peterson Industries. She was a member of the Falling Springs Church in Decatur. Joan was a 4-H Leader at the Mt. Zion 4-H Club for many years. She enjoyed cattle shows and sales. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Meek; and two grandsons, Kyle Meek and Cody Meek. She is survived by three sons: Larry Meek and wife Janet of Decatur, Leonard Dean Meek and wife Tammy of Decatur, and Bobbie Jo Meek and wife Dorenda of Cassville, Missouri; two daughters, Barbara Stichka Warren of Gentry, Arkansas, and Bev Saunders and husband Al of Colcord, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Junior Patterson and wife Ruby of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Darl Patterson and wife Maudeen of Siloam Springs; one sister, Carroll Underdown of Gentry; one sister-in-law, Rowena Meek of Gravette, Arkansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Falling Springs Church, Decatur, Arkansas with Mr. Larry Ellis officiating. Burial will follow at Falling Springs Cemetery.
